Known for his work as a leader with his acclaimed quartet, Stranger Days, as well as his sideman endeavors with Hiromi, Mary Halvorson, Vijay Iyer, Tyshawn Sorey, and Samora Pinderhughes, Adam O'Farrill is proud to debut his new album of octet works. For These Streets is a suite of music that channels the creative and emotional currents of the 1930s through an ensemble comprised of some of the finest improvisers and interpreters of the modern era. Reconstructing the feelings, ideas, and motifs of artists of the era (notably Duke Ellington, Virginia Woolf, Igor Stravinsky, Anais Nin, and Carlos Chavez), both the album and the Joe's Pub performance feature Mary Halvorson on guitar, Patricia Brennan on vibraphone, Kevin Sun on tenor saxophone and clarinet, David Leon on alto saxophone and flute, Kalun Leung on trombone and euphonium, Tyrone Allen on double bass, Tomas Fujiwara on drums, and conductor Eli Greenhoe.
